Power Cord Conversion using Park Power's Kit

One of the big frustrations we have with our Outback was cramming the 30amp power cord into a small box. To make it worse the hole is right behind the spare tire on our Outback. After my wife's first and last time putting the power cord away she agreed that I needed to do something. Enter the Park Power Conversion Kit. It includes the necessary adapters and covers so you can plug in the power cord to the back of your camper instead of cramming it in the squirrel hole. Now I just store the cord in my slide box. I picked up the Park Power Conversion Kit on sale at Camping World for $59.00, normally $89.00 - so waiting sometimes pays off. The instructions are very straightforward and clear. The hardest step is actually cutting the black power cord, as with all plans read twice and cut once and above all make sure you are disconnected from all power sources.

Once I removed the outer ring, I needed a razor blade to clean up the wall from all the sealer that Keystone applied. I cleaned it up further with light amount of paint thinner. Note the directions do not make it clear to slip the ring and foam sealers before you begin to connect the cover plate. From that point the installation is just a step by step process. Total time took me about one hour, and best of all when I plugged it no sparks flew!
